Editorial Standards

Bitcoin is a finance topic, and finance content can affect people’s money. These are the rules we follow so you can judge how much to rely on what you read here. For background on the site itself, see the About page.

How content is written

Articles are written in plain US English for readers who are new to the subject. We prefer durable facts, such as the 21 million supply cap, roughly ten-minute blocks and the 2008 whitepaper, over figures that go stale. We generally avoid quoting current prices, market capitalization, fee levels or tax rates. Where a time-sensitive fact matters, we say that it changes and point to where you can check it.

We explain risks next to benefits, and we describe criticisms of Bitcoin alongside arguments in its favor. We do not publish price predictions.

How content is checked

Before an article is published, factual claims are checked against primary or authoritative sources where they exist, such as the Bitcoin whitepaper, official regulator publications and documentation from the projects involved. Claims we cannot verify are removed or reworded rather than left in. We link to external sources only when we are sure the address is correct, and otherwise name the source in the text.

Nothing on this site is personalized financial, tax or legal advice. We explain how things work so you can ask better questions. Where a topic touches decisions about your money, the article points you to a qualified professional.

Independence, sponsorship and conflicts of interest

We do not accept paid placements. If that ever changes, any sponsored or paid content will be clearly labeled as such before publication.

We do not rank or endorse specific exchanges, custodians, wallets or other products, and we do not use affiliate-style recommendations. If the author holds bitcoin or has a financial interest relevant to an article, that interest is disclosed on the article. Editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers, partners or anyone with a commercial stake in the topic.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly. Minor fixes such as typos are made quietly. If a correction changes the substance of an article, we update the text and revise the article’s updated date. Where the change is significant, we add a short note explaining what was changed.
